A scholar whose area of study is geography, the study of Earth's natural environment and human society. Geographers are historically known as people who make maps, but map making is actually the field of study of cartography, a subset of geography.
Geographer is a restaurant & café located in a pre-war shophouse in Chinatown, Old Malacca that has been in business since 1999. We were approached to rebrand their previous identity when they were expanding their franchise in Kuala Lumpur.
Situated within the Historic Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, Geographer KL is located at a heritage building built in 1888. They strive to create a warm ambience with the gracious old charm of a seasoned traveler and welcomes travellers from around the world by providing comfort food and information.
We wanted to create a branding and identity design that aligns with Geographer's philosophy of preserving heritage building with old school charm while fusing new soul. We took inspiration from many old travel documents, letters and maps.
